Al Nabooda Automobiles, the official dealer for Audi in Duband the Northern Emirates, has formed a partnership with the football legend to represent the brand throughout the UAE which will see Captain Mahdi Ali drive a new Audi S8 car for business and pleasure.
The working relationship is likely to include the launch of a number of new initiatives designed to develop grassroots football.
One of the most celebrated and recognized players in UAE football history, Ali retired from the game in 1998 before leading the youth national team through its 2008 win in the U19 Asia Cup, as well as their quarter final finish in the U19 World Cup in Cairo in 2009, the Silver Medal in the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou in China, their win in the U23 GCC Cup in 2010 and the Silver Medal in the U23 GCC Cup in 2011.
In August 2012, Mahdi Ali was promoted to the UAE national team manager
after leading the team through the 2011 and 2012 qualifying rounds for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, the UAE’s first appearance at the Games.

The appointment comes after Audi Dubai announced its new three year sponsorship deal at Al Shabab Al Arabi Football Club.
Audi Dubai is also the lead sponsor of the UAE Pro League and Al Wasl FC, and hosted the Audi Football Awards as part of the Globe Soccer event at the end of 2012 which saw players and coaches including Eric Abidal, Josè Mourinho and Diego Maradona honored.
During April, Audi Dubai hosted one of amateur golf’s most prominent tournaments, the Audi quattro Cup, giving local golfers a chance to progress to the World Final in Los Angeles, California.
Al Nabooda Automobiles was also a sponsor of The Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships once again this year, with some of the biggest names in tennis being chauffeured in an Audi Q7 and A8.
