Under the patronage of Her Highness Sayyida Aliya bint Thuwaini Al Said, The Italian Embassy in Muscat recently hosted Gattinoni’s Spring Summer 2014 Haute Couture Fashion Show, ‘The Cloud’, at The Chedi, Muscat. The collection’s skilful combination of elements, ingenious construction of lines and rare color choices that highlight the female silhouette paid tribute to today’s contemporary woman.
Audiences at the exclusive, invitation-only show viewed an elegant collection of high artisanal Italian tailoring that flawlessly amalgamates modern, technological and innovative elements. An anthology of beautiful Gattinoni evening dresses also walked the runway. Opening the show was the kaftan “Tribute to Oman” designed by Gattinoni Couture Creative Director, Guillermo Mariotto, while the hand painted gown, ‘Tribute to Theatre’, closed the show.
In celebration of fashion as an expression of art and culture, the Italian Embassy also staged a week-long exhibition at the Opera Galleria entitled ‘Fernanda Gattinoni: Fashion and Stars at the Time of Hollywood on the Tiber’. The 24 exquisite dresses on display from the Fernanda and Raniero Gattinoni Historical Archive narrated the relationship between the great Italian Couturier and Hollywood’s most memorable style icons of the likes of Audrey Hepburn, Lana Turner, Elizabeth Taylor and Kim Novak, all of who have turned to one name and have enthralled audiences the world over with their captivating beauty and charm. The exhibition also showcased a selection of contemporary images by Paolo Belletti under the title, “Rome in Fashion”. The photographs are a combination of the capital of Italy’s extraordinary architecture and fashion.
Both events were sponsored by Maserati, The Zubair Corporation, Oman Air, Al Qurum Jewellery, Khimji Ramdas in addition to Amouage and produced by TRACCS Public Relations.
