The event, which brought together residents from across all of Aldar’s residential communities commenced with a presentation on sustainability and environmental footprint reduction by a representative of Abu Dhabi Electricity and Water Authority.
Residents from Al Zeina, Al Muneera, Al Bandar, Al Raha Gardens, Al Gurm, Al Bateen Park, all cheered as the lights were switched off at Al Zeina, leaving the beach aglow with solar powered lanterns and candles. Refreshments and snacks were served as families gathered on the beach to enjoy the night’s festivities.
“This is a wonderful event that Aldar organizes every year to celebrate Earth Hour,” said Crystal Teh, an Al Raha Gardens resident, “It’s a fun, community gathering where kids can learn about important environmental issues. We couldn’t be happier to be here today.”
“We are always proud to be participating in Earth Hour,” said Mohammed Abdulla Al Zaabi, Director of Estates at Aldar Properties. “Aldar’s commitment to developing sustainable communities in line with Abu Dhabi’s 2030 Vision goes beyond just incorporating sustainable best-practice into the design and construction of its projects, but also focuses on developing a culture of sustainable living and raising awareness of the importance of issues such as energy and water conservation, and the positive habits we are helping to cultivate in our younger generations.”
