Doha’s Diplomatic Club (DDC) was the venue for last week’s appreciation event where the sponsors, volunteers, aircraft owners and media who supported the Fly-in were thanked by the organising committee for their contributions in making it the triumph it turned out to be.
Over 60 people attended the DDC gathering, where sponsors and volunteers were given certificates to recognise their efforts.
The Fly-in was sponsored by a clutch of ‘blue chip’ companies, among them Barwa Real Estate, RasGas, QAFCO, Qatar Foundation, Qatar Steel, Action PR Qatar, Qatar Aeronautical College, and others.
Additionally, numerous volunteers gave up their time for the Fly-in, and their contribution was also recognised.
The Al Khor event had been completely reshaped into a bigger and better attraction than it had ever previously been and the resultant record attendance was confirmation of this.
The weekend’s events offered a superb opportunity for families to see dozens of fascinating aircraft from all over the region, an airshow display and a parachute drop.
Speaking at DDC, Sheikh Ahmed Bin Hamad Al Thani of the Fly-in organising committee said, “With the support of our sponsors and volunteers, the Fly-in was a great success with 5,000 people attending over the course of the weekend, more than treble the number from last year. It’s great to be able to honour those people who made the Fly-in possible.”
“The plan is to make the event even bigger and better next year, and so we look forward to the same level of support from out sponsors and volunteers when we reconvene in 2013,” he added.
