A new comprehensive survey from the Arab Advisors Group probed the telecom consumption habits of four ethnic groups residing in Jordan, namely, Egyptians, Iraqis, Syrians and Filipinos.
The Arab Advisors Group concluded a new survey of four main nationalities residing in Jordan; Egyptians, Iraqis, Syrians and Filipinos. The survey field work was concluded in March 2014. The survey report, Non Jordanian nationalities survey in Jordan: An analysis of telecom usage of Egyptians, Iraqis, Syrians and Filipinos residing in the kingdom, provides the results of a major comprehensive survey of telecom consumption habits by members of these four nationalities living in the Kingdom. The survey provides insights into cellular, Internet, fixed and international calling trends of the four nationalities. The survey report is more than 320 pages and encompasses more than 275 exhibits.
The Arab Advisors Group randomly interviewed 1,200 individuals from the Iraqi, Egyptian, Iraqi, Syrian and Pilipino residents in the kingdom (300 respondents per country). Some of the areas covered in the survey include the following:
- International communication destinations and platforms.
- Cellular adoption, usage and expenditure
- Internet usage trends
- Internet Service Providers and access technologies
- Internet line sharing
- Social media platforms adoption
- Usage of OTT applications
- E-commerce adoption and expenditure
- Fixed voice adoption, usage and expenditure
The Arab Advisors Group concluded the report by comparing the adoption of key telecom services between the four surveyed nationalities. “More than 70% of Iraqis, Filipinos, and Syrians above fifteen years of age use the Internet, while only 39% of Egyptians reported using the service“; Ms. Hind Qweider, Arab Advisors Group’s Senior Research Analyst, commented on the research findings.
Moreover, the report also details international calling trends among the four nationalities. “More than 70% of Egyptians, Filipinos, Iraqis and Syrians residing in Jordan use their cellular lines to make international calls, while more than 26% of each nationality do so on a daily basis,” Ms. Qweider also added.
