Arab Potash Company (APC) announced that it has distributed 15,000 welfare packages during the holy month of Ramadan to needy families in all governorates of the Kingdom worth more than JD500,000.
The packages contain more than twenty staple dietary materials in sufficient quantities to help needy families in all parts of the Kingdom bear the burdens and expenses of the month of fasting.
The packages were distributed in cooperation with a number of official bodies, mainly the Zakat Fund of the Ministry of Awqaf, which prepared a list of most needy families who do not receive aid from other organizations.
The distribution, which took into account the density of pockets of poverty in different areas and the presence of other organizations that provide similar services, was as follows: Irbid 1500 packages, Balqa 750 packages, Jerash 750 packages, Al Zarqa 1200 packages, Tafila 1430 packages, Ajloun 650 packages, Aqaba 600 packages, Wadi Araba area 500 packages, Amman 1695 packages, Karak 1800 packages, Madaba 950 packages, Ma’an 825 packages, Mafraq 850 packages, and the Southern Jordan Valley 1500.
APC is one the most active Jordanian companies in investing in local community development, having allocated JD 10,000,000 in each of 2012 and 2013 for development projects that focused on education, higher education, health, water and the environment, and the fight against poverty.
