The conference and the operational ceremony will be held together after long process and hard work to establish the infra structure of the Centre and the advanced equipment of the clinics to be able to receive patients and those in need of health care, especially in relation to inherited and genetic disease, from the beginning of December 2011. The Centre’s administration was very keen to recruit high caliber medical, scientific, and technical staff, as well as state-of-the-art technology to provide distinguished clinical and diagnostic services competing with its international counterpart.
The objectives of the conference are the following:
1. Introduce the clinical, diagnostic, research, and educational services of the Centre through lectures by specialists in the field of the Centre’s work in Molecular Medicine and Genetics.
2. Introduce the latest techniques and topics in modern medicine in the area of the Centre’s work, and the latest techniques in molecular diagnosis of abnormalities of genes and chromosomes in the stages of pre-pregnancy, prenatal, and advanced molecular diagnosis in the field of pediatrics, neonatal and reproductive health through the hosting of six senior doctors and scientists from the United States, Europe, and the Middle East.
3. Define the intellectual property rights of the universities and the protection of scientific discoveries by hosting a senior British lawyer specialized in the protection of scientific discoveries in medical science.
4. Provide the latest developments in the scientific research of the Centre and the latest development on ISRAA Discovery, and its role in the treatment of many devastating diseases.
It should be noted that the start of the construction of Princess Al-Jawhara Centre for Molecular Medicine, Genetics, and Inherited Disorders, began in 2003 through a contract with consulting firms and engineering preparation and implementation of the permanent building project.
The Centre is a pioneering step in the Gulf region and in the Arab world, as well as internationally in the follow-up and treatment of genetic diseases. It also represents an opportunity ahead for the development of scientific research in the field of genetics, which is considered as a medical revolution globally that Arabian Gulf University was dedicated to pursue in the current stage and in the future. The Centre will also work on the prevention, treatment, and conduction of scientific research, as well as on raising awareness and health education in all communities of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
