Aramex, the global logistics and transportation solutions provider, announced that it will inaugurate its new 14,000 square meters logistics and warehousing facility in the industrial complex of the 6th of October City, in August 2014. This facility will bring Aramex Egypt’s cumulative warehousing capacity to 106,000 square meters with the option to expand to a total of 134,000 square meters in the near future.
This logistics and warehousing facility is Aramex Egypt’s third biggest investment of its kind. The first phase of investments saw the opening of a 30,000 square metre state-of-the-art logistics facility in Cairo, which became fully operational in the first quarter of 2012. The facility now includes a warehouse section solely dedicated to customers from the fashion retail industry.
The second phase witnessed the opening of a 15,000 square metre logistics and warehouse facility in the Borg el Arab area of Alexandria. The facility, operational since January 2013, was built with the option of expanding to a total of 23,000 square meters.
“We are extremely pleased to express our commitment to support the future of the new Egypt,” said Hussein Hachem, Chief Executive Officer of Aramex. He added, “Our investments in the country which have already reached more than EGP 183 million during the past two years
have been directed towards infrastructure and facility upgrade projects”.
“While the outlook for the Egyptian economy for the short to medium term remains unclear, Egypt remains a key market for this region and we have been witnessing increased consumer and investor confidence. We hope our expansion plans are contributing to strengthening the Egyptian economy at this critical stage and helping promote economic developments leading to better opportunities for all Egyptians,” Hachem added further.
“The new expanded facilities complement our existing suite of services in Egypt, and allow us to expand our service offering to serve the increasing demands of our customers in the FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Products), Telecommunications, Fashion and Industrial Sectors,” said Samer Gharaibeh, Chief Executive Officer for Africa, Aramex.
Gharaibeh added: “With the continued growing demand for logistics and transportations services in Egypt, we have already started planning for additional investments in technology infrastructure upgrades, and developing our local human talent to meet the needs of our customers in Egypt and to support Aramex’s global expansion strategy.”
