In 2012, ArpuPlus had successfully launched services in Zimbabwe; for 2013 they are working on a number of new markets targeting a launch in two to three countries during the year. Moreover, by end of 2014 ArpuPlus plans to have a diversified base in Africa that will be a main region of growth for the company’s operations in the next three years. ArpuPlus’s expansion plans, which were shared during its celebration of its 10th anniversary, reflect the company’s continued commitment to get closer to its telecom service provider customers and partners in Africa as well as its recognition of Africa’s significant telecom market growth potential.
The company also announced the appointment of a new Managing Director, Mr. Adham El Gazzar to advance ARPU’s evolution.

The move also reflects our recognition of the huge growth potential inherent in the African markets and our commitment to engage more directly with our African counterparts in the region,” said Mr. El Gazzar.
“The case for Africa as an attractive investment is based largely on its growth potential. Africa is the second largest regional mobile phone market in the world by subscription growth. Informa Telecoms & Media (ITM) projects the number of mobile subscriptions set to reach 1.13 billion by the end of 2017. In addition, mobile voice revenues in Africa is expected to rise from $51.5bn in 2011 to $64.2bn in 2016, according to forecasts by ITM. Meanwhile, mobile data revenues on the continent will rise from $7.1bn in 2011 to $18.5bn in 2016”. He adds, “Since intense competition among operators is driving average revenues per user (ARPU) levels down, we have come to identify a strong demand for our services amongst telecom operators in Africa looking to enhance subscribers’ satisfaction and loyalty. Our services will not only help telecom operators foster better relationships with their subscribers, but also bring end-users closer to their interests and allow them to experience better delivery of public services.”
Mr. Gazzar has been with ArpuPlus since 2009, and has played a variety of key leadership roles in the company. Before taking on his current role as the managing director, he was the Commercial Director and Deputy Managing Director for ArpuPlus. Prior to joining ArpuPlus, Mr. Gazzar held a number of leadership roles in prominent organizations like Energya Holding, Advansys Telecom, Egytech, Nile Telecom, Egypt OnLine Alcatel, and SITA.
