Aspire Zone Foundation (AZF) Chief Executive Officer, Khalid Al Sulaiteen, launched a community inspired portal called ‘Life in Aspire’ on Saturday during a ceremony attended by senior AZF and other Qatari dignitaries.

The website located at www.lifeinaspire.qa was created in conjunction with the ‘Life in Aspire’ initiative and will serve as a community portal to the Aspire Zone. It comprises information about Aspire’s various activities and includes a daily guide, fitness tips, a family page and a bi-weekly newsletter.

Commenting on the importance of the initiative Al Sulaiteen said, “’Life in Aspire’ highlights our commitment to community service by creating the ultimate family-friendly sports and leisure destination. It also further demonstrates Aspire’s overarching mission to create a healthy population in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030.” “Therefore, the new ‘Life in Aspire’ website further contributes to our mission of engaging Qatar’s community in healthy living through sport,” he added.

Engineer Mohammed Abdulaziz Al Meer, Acting Director General of Aspire Logistics, said, “AZF is making every effort to implement a range of programmes and initiatives to diversify its target audience and renew the means by which it engages with the public.” “We also aim, through the integrated action plans of these programs, to address various challenges including seasonal temperature variations, cultural and behavioural patterns that affect an active lifestyle, as well as the creation of a positive community sports climate conducive to all members of society,” he added.

Nasser Abdullah Al Hajry, Corporate Communications Manager at AZF, said, “The ‘Life in Aspire’ portal is a significant step towards the establishment of a healthy community to provide Qatar’s population with direct access to a comprehensive guide of Aspire’s individual and family events and activities.”

Meanwhile this month, Aspire will host the inaugural ‘Junior Doha Jam’ competition, which is a three-on-three street basketball tournament set to take place on Friday 23 May. The competition will see 16 junior teams battle it out on the court for the champion’s title. The tournament will be divided into two age categories, 12 to 15 and 16 to 18. There will also be a range of fun court-side activities for spectators.

Additionally, ‘Learn to Cycle’ is also a brand new initiative on offer at Aspire this month. Led by a group of trained instructors, children aged nine to 11 will learn how to ride a bicycle in a safe environment while discovering the importance of road safety. ‘Learn to Cycle’ will be held every Friday and Saturday until 31 May. A number of ongoing activities are also set to continue at Aspire in May including ‘Community Kayaking’ where fully qualified instructors offer introductory courses to the water sport. Catering to all abilities, the kayaking sessions are held at the lake at the Aspire Park and are open to residents aged 14 and above.

Additionally, the third series of Aspire Zone’s popular ‘Community League’ tournaments kicked off last week and will run until 6 June. The ‘Community League’ basketball matches take place between 3.30pm and 5.30pm at the Aspire Park Courts, while the football games run from 6pm to 8pm at the CCO2 venue. Finally, during the summer Aspire’s public football pitches will open from 5.00am to 10.00am and 5.00pm till 10.00pm.
