The Advisory Board Members of the Mohammed Bin Rashid School for Communication (MBRSC) of the American University in Dubai (AUD) met for the fourth time with the School’s Administration this week.
The meeting was inducted by Mr. Ali Jaber, Dean of MBRSC, who updated the advisory board members on the latest achievements of the School’s graduates and pointed out their high number currently working in the media industry. During the meeting, a group of outstanding fresh graduates presented their senior film projects to the advisory board members who in return shared their views and feedback about their works.
Board member Dr. Elizabeth Daley, Dean of the School of Cinematic Arts at the University of Southern California (USC), commented, “All schools need outside input to grow and excel. MBRSC is very fortunate to have an Advisory Board with members that bring different perspectives to the mission and help guide the school in the professional development of its students.”
Among the topics discussed was the possibility of creating training opportunities for MBRSC graduates at international media outlets such as CNN among others. Dean Jaber commented, “We value the talents of our students, and that is the reason why we always seek to train them within international standards so that they reach the highest positions in the media industry, not only locally but also globally.”
Additionally, the advisory board members praised the success of the ‘ON: Original Narrative – Student Short Film Festival’ that was organized earlier this year by the faculty members of MBRSC, which attracted students from all over the world, and which will become an annual tradition at AUD and a platform for talented Arab students.
MBRSC welcomed Mr. Ghassan Harfouche, Group CEO of MCN, as a new member of its advisory board. Upon his appointment, he commented, “It is an honor for any person to become a member of the advisory board at MBRSC since it plays an important role in the development of the media scene. I was pleased to see the graduates’ work and the advanced level they have reached through the School.”
The advisory board consists of prominent professionals, with the main role of advising the School’s administration on matters relevant to the Communication and Information Studies program, and assisting the School in formulating and implementing its strategic priorities. The Board members also play an important role in setting our program standards and providing feedback on alumni positions in the market.
The MBRSC advisory board members include Dr. Philip Seib (Professor; Director, USC Center on Public Diplomacy), Mr. Pierre El Daher (CEO, GM & Owner – LBC Group), Ms. Lina Matta (Channel Manager – MBC4), Mr. Osman Sultan (CEO, DU); Ms. Erin Burnett (CNN Anchor); Sheikh Walid Al Ibrahim (Chairman and CEO of MBC) represented by Dr. Muhammad Al Odadi (Assistant Chairman of the MBC group Saudi Arabia); Dr. Elizabeth Daley (Dean of the School of Cinematic Arts at USC); Mr. Ghassan Harfouche (CEO MCN); Mr. AbdulHamid Jumaa (Chairman, Dubai International Film Festival); and Mr. Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh (CEO of Dolphin and Chairman of Masdar).
