AURAK committed to the UAE environment and social health

The Professional Development & Community Outreach Center at AURAK in association with the Ministry of Environment & Water has organized a workshop for its students and faculty on ‘Emirates free of plastic bags’ on Tuesday 23rd February at the AURAK campus.

The workshop aims to raise awareness among the community about the harmful effect of plastic bags on humans & the environment. It will also raise awareness of long-term complications of non-degradable plastic bags & possible alternatives to reduce their use. As a socially responsible institution, AURAK encourages its staff and students to take the initiative in creating an eco-friendly campus and community.

Prof Sharon Siverts, President stated that environmental sustainability is part of its mission and this is one step to bring about a change in attitude and behavior. AURAK has participated with the loval government environment department to clean beaches in RAK and will undertake its second beach cleaning campaign in Ras Al Khaimah this month.
