Averda helps UAE environment with Desert Cleanup for Earth Day 2012

United Arab Emirates: Monday, April 30 - 2012 @ 14:13

The volunteers gathered at Sunshine Tours’ Desert Camp, located between Abu Dhabi and Al Ain Road. Averda provided them with pick-up sticks, gloves, trash bags and Averda caps, with a pick-up truck on standby to collect the waste removed from the desert. All volunteers wore custom t-shirts in support of Earth Day.

“Desert Cleanup for Earth Day 2012 proved to be a huge success for the community. Representatives from Averda participated in the event, proving that our dedication to a cleaner environment carries through not only in the things we do, but to the people who deliver our services,” said Bilal Fakhouri, Managing Director, Averda Abu Dhabi. “We believe in engaging communities and encouraging them to take action, no matter how big or small, to give back to our planet. Averda cares for the environment all year round, as we inspire people by passionately delivering solutions that cater to our environment, our communities and our world.”

Averda is creating a movement from the ground up by educating local communities on the importance of being more responsible in their actions and giving back to the environment.

Fakhouri added, “We are proud to collaborate with clients such as Hilton Abu Dhabi for initiatives such as Desert Cleanup for Earth Day 2012. Together, we are turning the problems that affect our ecosystem into solutions that benefit the community. On behalf of Averda, I would like to thank Hilton Abu Dhabi for its support and involvement. Our success today was thanks to this fruitful collaboration – we wouldn’t have been able to do it without them.”

“Averda has proved an invaluable ally in our quest to become more environmentally friendly. With Averda’s assistance, we have been able to successfully clear a section of Abu Dhabi’s desert, creating a cleaner environment.said Wolfgang Maier, General Manager, Hilton Abu Dhabi.

The waste collected was taken back to Averda’s Musaffah Operations Facility, where it was weighed and segregated further, with all recyclables sent for further processing and recycling.
