In keeping with the spirit of the holy month of Ramadan, Bank Sohar recently organized a Qaranqasho event at Muscat Grand Mall during which it conducted its Al Mumayaz Savings Scheme Half-Yearly Draws worth more than a quarter of a million Rials, making for a spectacular show for all the attendees.
Present at the significant event representing the Bank were Mr. R. Narasimhan, DGM & Head of Retail Banking, Mr. Salim Khamis Al Maskari, Senior AGM – Branches, Mr. Khamis Masoud Al Rahbi, AGM-Branches and Mr. Redha Al Lawatia, Head of Retail Liabilities, along with other senior members of the management team and Branch Managers.
Commenting on this event and the Al Mumayaz Savings Scheme Half-Yearly Draws, Mr. R Narasimhan said, “The 2014 Al Mumayaz Savings Scheme has proved to be our most popular yet, with the number of winners running well into the hundreds so far this year whom have already realized their dreams. With the half-yearly draw being such a significant event for the Bank, we wanted everyone to share in the joyous celebrations, and our annual Qaranqasho event proved to be the perfect venue to do so.”
In celebrating Qaranqasho at Muscat Grand Mall, Bank Sohar organized a fun filled evening for adults as well as children on July 11 that witnessed a large number of attendees. The event was host to a number of fun-filled activities and entertainment shows which included the likes of puppet show, quizzes, and more. As part of the celebrations, the Bank also distributed a large number of sweets and gifts to all children that attended. In addition, Omani traditional save boxes “Jarrah” were distributed to children with the aim to encourage healthy savings habits.
Giving his thoughts on the event, Mr. Salim Khamis Al Maskari said, “Qaranqasho is a very special time for the younger generation and encourages them in their journey to fasting during the holy month of Ramadan. We, at Bank Sohar decided to make the event all the more meaningful by jointly organising our half yearly draw where we gave away more than quarter of a Million Rials. It gives us great joy to organize these events which help us connect with our customers and thank them for their support and loyalty.”
The highly anticipated Al Mumayaz Savings Scheme Half-Yearly Draws, worth more than a quarter of a million Rials, were conducted later in the evening where Mr. Asad Abdullah Al Geleibi and Mr. Salim Mohammed Al Zarei from the Bank’s Suwaiq and Jalan Bani Bu Ali Branch respectively won OR100,000 each. The lucky winner of the Exclusive Draw worth OR50,000 specifically made for customers who maintain a minimum monthly average balance of OR10,000 was the Bank’s customer from the Al Amerat Branch, while a lucky minor from the Bank’s Nizwa Branch received OR5,000 as part of the children’s draw. In addition to the Al Mumayaz Half-yearly Draws, the Bank also held the final draws for its ‘Shop & Win’ Credit Card promotion.

This draw marks the mid-way point for this year’s Al Mumayaz Savings Scheme. For the remainder of the year, Bank Sohar will be continuing with its five hourly prizes of OR1,000 every day from Sunday to Wednesday (four hourly prizes for the month of Ramadan), weekly prize draws OR5,000 and monthly draws with a prize pool of OR50,000. These will culminate with the highly anticipated Year-End Grand Prize Draw with a prize pool of over half a Million Rials, with one lucky saver winning OR500,000, one exclusive winner receiving OR50,000 and one lucky minor receiving OR5,000.
