Bank Sohar, one of Oman’s leading banks, has announced the induction of a third group of employees under its Erteqa’a program. Developed in partnership with Harvard Business Publishing launched in March last year, this blended learning initiative is a self-development program which uses the best practice employee development process incorporating eLearning, self-learning and classroom facilitation; all blended together in order to help the employees in enhancing their competencies to meet the levels defined in Bank’s Competency Framework.
The latest round of the Erteqa’a program is comprised of 60 staff from various branches and departments, and the initiative will focus on the renowned Harvard Manage Mentor program.

The Harvard Manage Mentor program, from one of the most recognized names in leadership—Harvard Business Publishing, includes lessons from over 50 global leaders and over 150 personal leadership stories from the Harvard University faculty, trusted experts, and next-generation emerging leaders.
The program adopts audio downloads, video clips, interactive activities, and other tools, to provide practical information that can be used immediately to address challenges faced by the employee and in turn earn great benefit as an outcome. In addition, forty-four modules address fundamental business topics including Business Essentials, Communication Skills, Personal Development, Strategy Essentials, Working with Teams, and Working with Individuals.

Through our Erteqa’a initiative and the Harvard Manage Mentor program, we offer our employees flexible tools, content and resources that help them do their jobs better and will help them acquire the necessary competencies to help them effectively meet the bank’s future challenges. As a part of Bank Sohar’s Erteqa’a initiative, the modular program is provided to the participants on all available electronic platforms such as laptops, PCs, tablet and smart phones. Through these systems, the participants will have access to the program 24 / 7. In addition, the bank provides all participants with a 3G modem and, if required, a laptop to ensure nobody is deprived of the facilities required for self-learning.
Bank Sohar is not only one of the first banks in Oman, but is amongst just a select few leading Banks in the Middle East to have designed, developed and successfully launched a Blended learning initiative.
