Bank Sohar receive 3 awards from CPI Financial – Banker Middle East Product Awards 2014

Cementing its position as one of Oman’s most dynamic retail and corporate banking institutions, Bank Sohar is pleased to announce that it was the only entity from Oman to have won three individual awards from the Banker Middle East Product Awards 2014 organized by CPI Financial, Dubai, UAE.

Bank Sohar was recognized as the Bank with the ‘Best Customer Service– Retail Banking’, ‘Best Cash Management’ and ‘Best Corporate Card’.

All three awards were handed over to the Bank by Mr. Adam Broom, CEO of CPI Financial, at an event held at the Bank’s premises on June 30. Receiving the awards on behalf of the Bank was Dr. Mohamed Abdulaziz Kalmoor, CEO of Bank Sohar in the presence of Mr. R. Narasimhan, DGM & Head Retail Banking, Ms. Munira Abdulnabi Macki, DGM Human Resource & Corporate Support, Mr. Nasser Al Maawali, DGM & Head Internal Audit, and other executives and senior management of the Bank.

On receiving the awards, Dr. Mohamed Abdulaziz Kalmoor said, “Bank Sohar continues to constantly and consistently grow since its inception seven years ago. Our customer-centric approach and pioneering product range has earned us a reputation as one of the leading banks in the Sultanate. These awards are a reflection and a testament to our successful strategies and quality of products and services provided. However, these recognitions would not have been possible without the support and guidance of the Board of Directors and the commitment of the Bank’s management and employees, who constantly strive to deliver above and beyond customer expectations; and of course to the loyalty and support of our customers.”

Each award highlights key aspects of Bank Sohar’s products, services and operations,. The ‘Best Cash Management’ award represents the efficient use of cash resources at the bank as well as efficient ATM operations. The ‘Best Corporate Card’ award on the other hand, was earned by the Bank due to its astute management of its corporate credit card business and the excellent benefits the product offers. Bank Sohar’s Excel Corporate Credit Card outperforms nearly every other corporate credit card in the market. It is a universal payment solution designed to help businesses accurately, manage corporate expenditure as well as enabling the cardholder to make better and more informed business related decisions; which in turn greatly benefits the company. The third and final award – ‘Best Customer Service-Retail Banking’ Award, is recognition of Bank Sohar’s market leading customer-service standards and high levels of customer satisfaction across our entire Retail Branch network.

These awards represents yet another landmark achievement for Bank Sohar; having already won a slew of awards locally, regionally, and internationally, in just the first six months of 2014. Among its accolades,the Bank and Dr. Kalmoor were received the ‘Best Financial Brand Oman 2014’ and ‘Best Banking CEO Oman 2014’ award respectively by renowned UK based Global Brands Magazine and also received ‘The Diamond Eye Award for Quality, Commitment & Excellence’ from the French based Otherways Management & Consulting Association. Bank Sohar was also presented with the “Strategic Award” for their corporate website (www.banksohar.net) from the Lebanon based Pan Arab Excellence Awards Academy as well as Oman Web Awards. Bank Sohar was also named the ‘Fastest Growing Bank in Oman 2014’ while Dr. Kalmoor received the ‘Outstanding Contribution to Banking Industry Oman 2014’ Award by UK based International Finance Magazine (IFM).

In addition, Dr. Mohamed Abdulaziz Kalmoor, has also received the ‘Most Outstanding Corporate Leader’ award while Bank Sohar was also recognized as one of the ‘Top 5 Large Corporate Enterprises in the Sultanate’ for the third consecutive year at the Alam Al Iktisad Wal Amaal (AIWA) Awards.

The Banker Middle East Product Awards 2014 is conducted by CPI Financial based out of Dubai, UAE. The entity is one of the region’s most influential publishers of business and financial news through digital and print media.

The awards are amongst the most sought-after honors in the banking industry. An award translates into huge market exposure for the winner and a significant enhancement of its brand equity. Not surprisingly, competition for a position on the honors list is fierce.

The Awards programme operates on a peer-vote basis. Awards categories are established as a result of dialogue with industry observers in each country and an initial short-list of potential candidates and their products or services assembled.

These short-lists are published on CPI Financial website (www.cpifinancial.net) and, although not mandatory, the respective institutions are allowed to provide supporting material to promote their entries.

The short-lists are maintained on the website for a period of five weeks during which the entries are promoted to the readership of Banker Middle East and the registered users of the website, which comprise of approximately 12,000 unique users, inviting them to vote for the products and institutions that they believe deserve to win.
