As part of its on-going commitment to support the wider community, Bank Sohar presented Al Noor Association for the Blind – Muscat branch with support dedicated towards the purchase number of Braille Sense assistive technology units.
The donation was handed over to Mr. Ibrahim bin Hamdoon Al Harthi, the Chairman of the Al Noor Association of the Blind, by Mr. Mazin Al Raisi, AGM – Head of Marketing and Publicity of Bank Sohar, at the Association’s premises in Al Khuwair.
Commenting on the Bank’s support, Ms. Munira Abdulnabi Macki, DGM Human Resources & Corporate Support at Bank Sohar, remarked “Our objective at Bank Sohar is to empower and support persons with special needs with professional training and education, so they can participate more actively in the community and make a meaningful contribution towards the future growth of the nation. Organisations like the Al Noor Association for the Blind work tirelessly towards the social, economic welfare of the blind. We are honored to join hands for this noble cause, and our relationship with organisations such as Al Noor Association for the Blind reiterates our steadfast support towards the growth and welfare of our community as a whole.”

The contribution to Al Noor Association for the Blind-Muscat will help the association provide support services in areas of development, social and vocational hence enabling members to live a normal life in the community. Additionally, the association is continually improving the quality of their training in areas of culture, science, educational, sports and economy.

The Al Noor Association for the Blind was founded in 1997 with the aim of improving living standards for blind people in the Sultanate of Oman. The association also represents the interests of the blind community and provides support services in areas of social and vocational development and the teaching of Braille. These services enable members to live as normally as possible in the community. The association, in cooperation with the responsible authorities, also explores employment opportunities for the blind according to their visual condition.
In addition to Al Noor Association of the Blind, Bank Sohar has supported a broad range of organizations across the Sultanate in the current year, including Dar Al Atta, Oman Road Safety Association, Association of Early Intervention for Children with Disabilities, Creative Centre for Rehabilitation, Oman Association for the Disabled and Al Noor Association for the Blind. Bank Sohar’s CSR initiatives have become an integral part of its operational strategy and as a result, it has received several accolades for its CSR efforts over the years, both regionally and internationally. The Bank plans to continue in its steadfast quest of philanthropy with many more donations and charitable events lined up for the current year.
