The support in the form of a donation cheque was handed over to Mrs. Sabah Al Bahlani, President of the Association of Early intervention for Children with Disabilities at the Bank Sohar Head Office by Ms. Munira Abdulnabi Macki, DGM of Human Resource and Corporate Support at Bank Sohar.
Commenting on this support, Ms. Munira Abdulnabi Macki stated, “Bank Sohar has supported quite a few initiatives of the Association of Early intervention for Children with Disabilities in the past, and it is once again a pleasure to be supporting them this year. The bank has been closely associated with charitable organisation since 2010, and we look forward to continuing this partnership and providing support for the children’s on-going needs for coming years.”
This initiative from Bank Sohar is aligned with its many on-going social activities that place it at the heart of the local community. Such CSR related activities are a testament to Bank Sohar’s commitment towards playing an active role in enhancing the livelihood of the community that it serves. The Bank and its staff strongly believe in the value of contributing, not only financially, but also as responsible citizens and individuals of the Country. As part of its corporate social responsibility program; the Bank also provides continuous support and sponsorship to numerous charitable organisations and associations.
Commenting on receiving the donation cheque from Bank Sohar, Mrs. Sabah Al Bahlani said, “I express my heartfelt gratitude to the Bank for their continuous support over the years for our association’s activities. This donation will provide us with the support we need to cover all costs associated with educational material and activities for the children.”
“Organizations and associations such as the Association of Early Intervention for Children with Disabilities are of great merit to the society. Not only are they are capable of providing the crucial support that children need in their early years; their establishment is a crucial step in helping to change any lingering discriminatory attitudes, creating welcoming communities and developing an inclusive society. Such an evolution within the social perspective within the community as well as the children is imperative,” added Ms. Munira Abdulnabi Macki.
The Association, which was established in March 2000, is the only centre in Oman to provide children, from birth to the age of six, with specialised programs that cover all developmental areas. Since its inception, the Association’s philosophy has been to continually develop and upgrade its programmes and services to build an ever closer partnership between parents of children with disabilities, which is a key element that determines a successful integration of the children as valuable contributing members of the community. The centre provides children with an early comprehensive intervention program that covers social, academic and therapeutic services, with the objective of having children enrol in regular schools or minimize their disabilities to ensure a better quality of life for them and their families.
Apart from normal banking activities, Bank Sohar actively assists and helps those in need through sponsorships and donations under its various community services programmes and through various charitable organizations in the country. This year alone, in addition to Association of Early intervention for Children with Disabilities, Bank Sohar has also lent its support to several organisations and their activities including The Creative Centre for Rehabilitation, The Al Noor Association for the Blind and other associations. Through initiatives such as these, Bank Sohar aims to contribute to the community it serves in an active and ongoing manner. This will not only better the livelihood of those in need throughout the Sultanate, but also increase consciousness among the public on how they can make a difference.
