The press conference was attended by Abdulla Abduljalil Al Fahim, Chairman of Falcon College, and Dr. hc Oskar R. Sykora, the founding Dean of Falcon College. The Chairman and the Dean of Falcon College discussed the plans for the academic year, the industry training and placement, and the student guidelines for acceptance and evaluation. Falcon College is positioned to become an important addition to the growing academic environment in Abu Dhabi.
“We recognise that the hospitality and tourism industry in Abu Dhabi and the region as a whole is flourishing and employers require bright, capable people to complement their teams,” said the Chairman. “The Hotel Management and Tourism programme at Falcon College is designed to meet this need.” The Chairman told the audience that the contribution and efforts of Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority in developing tourism in the city encouraged the need to establish an educational institution that complemented the growing industry. The hospitality programme, which from its inception was accredited by the United Arab Emirates Ministry of Education & Scientific Research, is the first of its kind to be introduced in Abu Dhabi.
The Chairman also revealed plans for the expansion of Falcon College with the construction and design of a new campus within 2 years. He added that “the main reason for establishing the college was to create new graduates that are capable of keeping up with the developments and prosperity of the tourism sector in the UAE and worldwide.” The Chairman also expressed his gratitude to His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, for his encouragement with the idea of establishing this Falcon College.
“It is with enormous enthusiasm that we welcome applicants to join the freshman class of Falcon College to take part in this new journey of learning,” stated Dean Dr. hc Oskar R. Sykora. “We have set out to create a program that educates students the unique blend of Arabian and Swiss hospitality, incorporating all the modern elements for a truly global career,” he added.
