Fawaz is one of the largest companies in the Refrigeration and Air-conditioning industry in the region with 24 showrooms, 5 of which are located in the UAE.
Some of the key topics that are expected to attract a major share of attention from the international construction community at this year’s exhibition are products and technology that address environmental and sustainability issues, dispute management and project management.
Eisa Al Hassawi, Deputy Managing Director of Fawaz, said that the company’s environmentally friendly systems have already been successfully implemented in several public and private sector projects and have received a positive response to date. “The systems have contributed to a saving of up to 30% of power requirements in the projects they have been implemented in. Fawaz is also working in partnership with scientific centers and water and electricity entities in Kuwait to further develop environmentally-friendly cooling systems,” said Al Hassawi.
Fawaz expects this year’s exhibition to be of particularly importance from the point of view of gauging industry interest post the construction bust.
“This edition of The Big 5 is of particularly importance as it follows the hit the construction and related industries took during the economic crisis. The response, however, has been very positive and I am very optimistic about the opportunity the show represents, considering the unexpectedly large number of participating exhibitors and the fact that this is set to be the biggest edition of The Big 5 yet, covering over 40,000 square meters,”
said Al Hassawi.
Al Hassawi expects the Refrigeration and Air-conditioning industry to witness a 10% growth in sales in 2010, due to continued demand from ongoing projects in the GCC, particularly infrastructure and government-related projects.
He added that the refrigeration industry suffered only a limited impact of the slowdown, due to the natural buoyancy it enjoys based on its ties to the food and beverage, retail and hospitality industries, whose refrigeration demands have continued unabated despite the crisis.
The company will also showcase HVAC (Heating, Ventilating and Air-Conditioning), Plumbing, Fire Fighting, Security, Electrical, Water Treatment and Building Automation systems at this year’s show, which is expected to attract a uniformly high caliber of architects, engineers, contractors and developers from the public and private sectors who are expected to utilize the platform to network, source and acquaint themselves with the latest building and construction products and services.
The Big 5 Show provides the ideal opportunity for engineers, architects and contractors to showcase the latest innovations and products in the international building and construction industry. Some 3,000 exhibitors from over 50 countries will be represented during the show. According to show organizers, research reveals that there are currently some $3.1 trillion ongoing construction projects in the Gulf.
