The expansion is driven by the country’s recent business resurgence and improving economy. According to UNDP (United Nations Development Policy), transportation is the second most important sector for the country.

The FedEx service in Kabul, which includes pick-up and delivery within the city, is operated by its newly-appointed Global Service Participant, Afghan Express Ltd., which has a strong track record of doing business both in the region and internationally.

“Our services will help connect businesses and organisations in Kabul to the international business arena giving them rapid access to more than 210 countries across the globe,” said Hamdi Osman, Regional Vice President, FedEx Middle East, Indian Sub-Continent and Africa. “We look forward to providing support to the region’s improving economy.”

Ishan Farid Khwaja, Managing Director of Afghan Express Ltd. added, “The arrival of FedEx is a landmark event in the economic development of the region and illustrates the growing international recognition of Afghanistan as a member of the international trading community. Our staffs have received full training from FedEx to ensure that customers are being offered the same level of service that FedEx customers enjoy throughout its global network.”
