FedEx Express presented with ‘New Employer Award’ at Dubai Women’s College for Emiratization efforts

FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and the world’s largest express transportation company,has been presented with the ‘New Employer Award’ at the Annual Partnership Awards held by Dubai Women’s College.

FedEx was recognized for its efforts to inspire and support Emiratis considering careers in the private sector by participating in the Dubai Women’s College career fair.In line with the Emiratization program developed by the UAE government, FedEx aims to raise awareness of development and professional opportunities for the young UAE national community.

“Being presented with the New Employer Award is a testament to our commitment to give back to the communities that we live and operate in,” said David Ross, senior vice-president of FedEx Express Middle East, Indian Subcontinent & Africa operations.

“FedEx is collaborating with Dubai Women’s College because we understand the importance of Emiratization to the UAE government as well as its impact on the country’s social and economic status. As a socially responsible company and a great place to work in the UAE, we are passionate about supporting and mentoring Emiratis who are considering a career in a logistics multinational.”

Higher Colleges of Technology – Dubai Women’s College, awarded FedEx for the company’s efforts in advising students about their career benefits and growth prospects. Dina Abuljebain, HCT-DWC Careers Employer Relations Coordinator, stated: “Every year we are seeing an increase in the number of private sector companies participating in our program and emphasizing that there are unmatched opportunities available to our Emirati students.”

The Annual Partnership Awards held by Dubai Women’s College recognizes organizations that have contributed to the professional development of students through activities such as classroom visits, panel discussions and workplace tours. This year saw the participation of 25 companies across sectors such as communications, logistics, technology, public services, group business and financial services.

The 2013-2014 academic year was the first time FedEx teamed up with Dubai Women’s College to help increase the awareness of opportunities available to Emiratis in the logistics industry. In the UAE, FedEx is working with universities, high schools and government authorities to offer development programs from early school years through to employment as part of its corporate social responsibility initiatives.
