UAE witnesses the Ultimate X-Training Challenge

United Arab Emirates: Thursday, October 16 - 2008 @ 12:20

Being held on 24th October at the Ibn Battuta Mall China Court in partnership with Technogym and Ibn Battuta Mall, the event will bring together members from Fitness First clubs of the UAE, Bahrain, Lebanon and Jordan, as well as non-members to take part in the grueling challenge.

Helping to promote wellness in the region, this event – of which all entry fees are donated to Fitness First’s ‘Adopt a Child’ program* – will see individuals as well as mixed teams of men and women compete against each other, and the clock. Split in to three categories; Team Relay, Amateur and Professional, the Fitness First Ultimate X-Training Challenge consists of 12 individual fitness stations, including; cycling, press ups, sits ups, rowing machine and treadmill, set out to test the stamina and mental strength of the participants from beginners to hard-core athletes. The challenge will take place completely on the latest ‘state of the art’ Technogym equipment that has been kindly donated for the day.

Commenting on the challenge, Gary Knill, CEO Leisure Unlimited LLC, said “Fitness First is a firm believer in challenging your fitness ability in a controlled environment. Our aim is to firmly stamp the Ultimate X-Training Challenge in the UAE events calendar in an effort to continue our desire of exercising the bodies and minds of the UAE’s residents. We already have 19 teams and many individuals signed up for this year’s event and anticipating it growing year on year as staying fit and healthy becomes a more important part of people’s lives.”

In a bid to demonstrate the level of the challenge, Fitness First has flown in international teams to take part in the team segment, including teams from Bahrain, Lebanon and Jordan, and Dubai based world renown corporate team & executive coach and keynote speaker Adrian Hayes – who recently joined one of the world’s most exclusive clubs when he became only the 15th person, and the fastest person in history, to reach the “3 Poles” of the Earth – sumitting Mt Everest and walking the entire way to the North and South Poles.

Taking place from 11am to 5pm on 24th October, the individual and team that complete the 12 station challenge in the quickest time will be announced as the winners. Prizes have been generously donated by key sponsors adidas, Phillips, Polar and Al Futtaim Travel, as well as Fitness First awarding VIP memberships for non-member winners as acknowledgement of their personal and the Ultimate X-Training Challenge success.
