“The fact that more properties are entering the market proves the point that this segment is fast catching up in the hospitality world,” said the businessman who started the hospitality concept wayback in the year 2000 with the opening of Florida Hotel in Deira.
The group is utilizing its sixth successive year participation in the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) to showcase its varied portfolio of non-alcoholic hotels and hotel apartments which are key players in the emirate’s hospitality sector. Flora Group Hotels stand (HC 1300) is located in Zabeel Hall of DICEC.
The group properties are – Flora Grand Hotel, Florida Hotel, Hotel Florida International, Flora Hotel Apartments, Flora Park Hotel Apartments, and Flora Creek Hotel Apartments

This year, our endeavors will be more on creating brand awareness and consolidation of our networking,” said Mr. Mohammed Rafi, Chief Operating Officer of Pearl Investment and Flora GroupHotels.
Flora Group Hotels will have a 100 square metre stand at the ATM, the region’s premier travel and tourism trade event being held at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre from May 4 to 7.
Unlike many organisations, we have not downsized the stand size nor cut the budget for promotions and marketing, he said.
Flora Group Hotels, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary of operations in the UAE, has announced a five-year, Dhs500m expansion that will see 10 hotels opening up in the GCC and India, where it operates a variety of businesses including Oberon Mall, the biggest lifestyle shopping-cum-entertainment facility in the Southern Indian state of Kerala.
Flora Group Hotels is part of an Indian-headquartered diversified conglomerate operating in the fields of hospitality, real estate, engineering and technical services and general trading.
The group plans to enter Saudi Arabia by opening hotels in the Holy cities of Makkah and Madinah.The expansion will be mainly funded through the group’s internal cash flows and other means.
Mr.Noordheen Babu, Managing Director, Flora Group Hotels, said Flora hotels group had 87% occupancy rate in 2009, one of the worst periods for Dubai’s hospitality sector. This year, the occupancy is at 85%.
The group, employing around 3,000 people did not lay off a single staff despite the general downturn. “Our growth has been steady and we look into the future with a great optimism,” Mr.Hassan said.
The group’s Flora Airport Kochi is due to open in December 2010. The 70-room, four-star boutique hotel will have banqueting facilities for 1000 guests. The spa project on the 25-acre Flora Island Resort, about 15 minutes drive from Kochi airport, is also expected be operational by December 2010. A 700-guest-capacity roof-top banqueting facility was under development at Flora Creek Hotel Apartments.
