The Freight Club holds 4th Annual Conference in Malaysia

United Arab Emirates: Thursday, May 16 - 2002 @ 10:08

The action packed conference with an attendance of 41 freight forwarders, was also attended by Mr. Ram Menen – Director Emirates Sky Cargo and Mr. André Van Lancker, Managing Director – Atlas International Network as guest speakers. The conference also witnessed a change in presidency with Mr. Joerg H. Gutschner ( Chairman of MENIAN SPEDITION AG, Frankfurt/Germany ) taking over as the new president of The Freight Club.

Established in 1999, The Freight Club has since then grown from strength to strength, proving to be an extremely aggressive and effective network of freight forwarders. Initially formed in response to the need of small to medium sized forwarders seeking a reliable international network, The Freight Club at present provides its over 90 members much more than just a global network. Today the organization serves as a platform which enables its members to tackle various industry issues from insurance, tariffs and codes of conduct, to even using their collective bargaining power to negotiate with carriers. The Freight Club also provides its members an excellent opportunity to network and explore new opportunities with reliable freight forwarders from around the world.

The success of the organization can be gauged by the fact 85% of the founding members of The Freight Club still remain as active members of the network. “The freight industry has witnessed the formation of numerous such networks over the years…” commented Mr. Ram Menen – Director Emirates Sky Cargo. “… but the professional attitude and the general vive & enthusiasm that I witnessed at the Langkawi conference, is what I think puts The Freight Club in a league of its own. They obviously have a firm foundation and the right drive to make the most of such a global network. “

The Langkawi conference also saw the formation of 4 committees, which will assist the board and the President in handling the affairs of the organization. Dubai, U.A.E. has been selected as the venue for the next TFC conference and judging by the response this year, the 2003 conference can be expected to be an exciting one.
