United Arab Emirates: Saturday, April 14 - 2007 @ 13:02

As a body of the Government of Abu Dhabi, the Fund was invited – along with many other government departments and institutions at the municipal and Emirate level – to participate in the Award program which was announced in February of this year.

It is noteworthy that the Award program will have many activities from now until October 30, 2007, the day on which the winners will be announced and receive the awards. Award activities will include introductory and site visits, workshops on how to prepare individual and group evaluation works and selection stages.

The Abu Dhabi Award for Excellence in Government Performance is held under the patronage of H. H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander in Chief of the UAE Armed Forces and Chairman of the Executive Council, and with its vision and strategic approach is destined to be a prestigious and a highly recognized and awaited event every year.

The delegation visit to the Fund comes to introduce the Award, its excellence model, performance assessment, winner selection criteria and to give information and guidance to the Fund as a participant.

Commenting on the Award delegation visit and Fund participation, Mr. Mubarak Rashed Al Mansouri, the Fund’s Director General said: “We are glad to be part of ‘Abu Dhabi Award for Excellence in Government Performance’ program, and in fact, we have already begun this process, which kicked-off with a top-to-toe review of the entire organization back in December 2006. The Fund is currently working to develop its five year strategy, which is grounded in performance excellence and quality. Therefore, this award very much dovetails what we have already planned to inculcate within our framework to enable the Fund to achieve the required benchmarks in performance and development improvements.”

Mr. Al Mansouri added: “In my view, what is important is not to win the Award, but rather to learn from the experience, to benefit from the feedback and to interact with other Government bodies and see how we can strive to reach excellence in serving our beloved country and fellow citizens.”
