In addition, the ICT Fund will share updates on new projects it is supporting within the Arabic digital content initiative. The ICT Fund has also dedicated Dhs25m over the next five years to support the “Arabic Digital Content” initiative. The initiative was launched recently by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
And lastly, the entity will share updates on its 2014 Betha student scholarship program; an initiative to enhance the stature and role of the national education sector through supporting and sponsoring scientifically distinguished students to boost the education process in the UAE in all scientific majors that are based on the UAE needs. The initiative comes as a by-product of the growing demand for UAE national human resources specialized in the telecoms sector and related fields.
Omar Mohammed Al Mahmoud, Acting Chief Executive Officer of ICT fund said: “We look at Gitex Technology Week to being more than just an exhibition; it’s a platform for creativity and innovation in technology. This year we will announce a range of projects that support our research and development pillar along with initiatives that support the growth of Arabic digital content and the latest updates on the Betha scholarship program. We look forward to our participation at this year’s event as it will serve as a platform to showcase how ICT Fund is working with the nation’s academic community to raise the levels of ICT competitiveness in the UAE and contribute to the development of a knowledge based economy.”
