Overwhelming response on ICT Fund stand at GETEX 2013

The event, sponsored by H.H. Sheikh Nahyan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ministry of Culture, Youth, and Social Development, received an overwhelming response from visitors and participants with 400 educational institutions present to showcase more than 250 programs in academic, technical and training fields.

At the event, the ICT Fund showcased the Betha program scholarships, which include a range of B.Sc. and M.Sc. subjects in ICT specialties and related fields, in addition to the funding services that ICT Fund provides to support research and scientific development fields in UAE.

On this occasion, H.E. Dr. Abdulkhader Al Khayat, Chairman of ICT Fund, said, “GETEX is a key opportunity for the ICT Fund to share its accomplishments within the UAE education sector. We strive to provide much-needed support in fields like Research and Scientific Development and to introduce students to the scholarship opportunities that will ultimately help prepare the future leaders in the information & telecommunications sector.”

The Betha program team showcased all the scholarships they provide during the exhibition, which include a range of B.Sc. and M.Sc. subjects in ICT specialties and the related fields. Betha aims to support the ICT sector by developing specialized human resources and preparing the future leaders in the information & telecommunications sector. It accomplishes those goals of meeting the needs of the UAE ICT sector, which is important for the advancement and progress of the UAE economy, by providing scholarships and fund support and with continuous engagement with its scholars.

The Betha program supports students across a range of B.Sc. and M.Sc. subjects including computer engineering, electrical engineering and computer science. To date, The ICT Fund has invested more than Dhs300m in the Betha scholarship program. Betha has enabled 230 Emirati students, 219 bachelors’ students and 11 masters’ students to study in universities abroad the UAE. The ICT Fund aims through the Betha program to target 1000 students in the coming years and continue to support the education path towards achieving the UAE Vision 2021.
