“Sheikh Mohammed has played a major role in fostering IT development in the Arab world. IDC has been analyzing the IT markets across the globe for the past four decades. In that period, we have come across very few political leaders who have taken such deliberate and decisive steps to benefit their societies through the implementation of information and communications technologies ,” according to Jyoti Lalchandani, Regional Director for IDC Middle East & North Africa. “Due to his stewardship of such keystone initiatives such as Dubai Internet City, Dubai Media City, Knowledge Village, and Outsourcing Park, he has put Dubai at the forefront of worldwide technology developments. Dubai’s open business environment and affinity to technology, both encouraged by the Sheikh, have established the UAE as the hub and conduit for ICT developments in the region.”
The award was presented to Sheikh Mohammed on the first day of GITEX in the Dubai Internet City hall. On hand to present the award were Mr. Lalchandani, Dominic de Souza, Managing Director of CPI, and Tom Schwieters, Vice President for Research and Consulting for IDC in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region.
