3rd International District Cooling Conference ends on optimistic note

United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, October 29 - 2008 @ 16:22

The conference which witnessed the participation of over 400 delegates was held at the InterContinental in Dubai Festival City.

During the three-day event, several key players in the global and regional District Cooling industry came together to share ideas and experiences on a broad spectrum of topics covering strategic issues such as water and power conservation technologies, construction techniques and more sustainable business solutions.

The highlight of the conference was the launch of the District Cooling Best Practice Guide, a comprehensive resource for professionals in the construction and District Cooling sector. City Cool had also contributed its expertise to the District Cooling Guide by sharing its knowledge and years of experience on the various technical and commercial aspects of District Cooling.

Mr. Fouad Youanan, CEO of City Cool, commented:

“It was a great privilege for City Cool to host IDEA’s International District Cooling Conference, which provided a global perspective on how sustainable energy could be achieved through environmentally-friendly District Cooling solutions. We look forward to further strengthening our ties with IDEA in promoting district energy concepts, and in particular, work towards enhancing the awareness of District Cooling technology and its benefits through events and trade shows.”

“The 3rd edition of the conference came at a most appropriate time, coinciding as it did with the rising demand for District Cooling infrastructure as the only efficient solution to tackle the increasing consumption of power and energy,” he observed.

“Further, the event helped send out a positive message that the demand for District Cooling solutions will continue to grow regardless of prevailing economic conditions, as embracing green technologies has now become a necessity rather than an option,” he added.

At the conference, City Cool participated in the ‘IDEA Leadership Panel’ along with other recognized industry leaders to discuss how district energy systems can reduce carbon footprint and greenhouse gas emissions and contribute to a more sustainable urban development through water and energy conservation techniques.

The conference addressed key environmental issues such as global climate change, green building interface and its impact on large urban projects and mixed–use developments.

In recognition of its continuous commitment to promoting District Cooling technology, IDEA at the conference honored City Cool with the prestigious Gold membership to its association.
