The network enables the company to meet demand for high-speed IP connectivity from financial institutions, oil and gas companies, and other enterprise customers in the region’s growing market. iDirect is a world leader in satellite-based IP communications technology.
The launch of Qsat’s network follows the recent deregulation of the telecommunications industry in Qatar. A deregulated market has cleared the way for satellite service providers like Qsat to meet the growing demand for additional bandwidth for a variety of government and enterprise communications needs in the region.
Qsat can now offer advanced services to remote sites, filling the communications gap in Qatar’s rapidly growing enterprise market, where terrestrial service is unable to reach.
An Evolution network will deliver next-generation performance for corporate Virtual Private Networks (VPN’s) and other advanced applications that Qsat’s customers rely on for business. Based on the DVB-S2 standard with Adaptive Coding and Modulation (ACM), the iDirect network will enable Qsat to efficiently allocate bandwidth capacity from the Intelsat 10 satellite to its growing base of EMEA enterprise customers.
Advanced features of the iDirect platform like ACM allow Qsat to provide higher Quality of Service to its customers by automatically adjusting to overcome typical conditions such as rain fade that often cause service degradation in Africa and other tropical regions.
“Critical government and enterprise applications in the EMEA region, including telemedicine, rural telecommunications, distance learning and VPN’s, are creating a rising demand for additional bandwidth. Emerging markets are beginning to realize the tremendous cost and service advantages of using VSAT. The iDirect platform provides all the benefits of VSAT with advanced features that enable QSAT to offer higher Service Level Agreements to meet the demands of our customers,” said Ali Al Hadi, CEO, Qsat.
“Qsat is a well established provider in the VSAT industry. It is able to leverage an experienced sales and technical support infrastructure to deliver the VSAT advantage to its growing base of customers. An Evolution network allows Qsat to efficiently distribute bandwidth to support critical economic growth while maximizing its return on investment,” said Dean Griffler, Senior Vice President of Global Sales, iDirect.
iDirect’s Evolution product line supports a wide range of carrier IP data rates, FEC codes and modulation types, including up to 16APSK on outbound and up to 8PSK on the inbound. Evolution includes the advanced features of the iDirect Intelligent Platform(TM), to help operators amplify the gains of DVB-S2, enabling satellite networks to meet demanding service level agreements and reach data speeds of up to 156 Megabits per second.
