Ikoo to boost new UNICEF social media campaign

Jordan: Monday, August 23 - 2010 @ 09:41

With this announcement, Ikoo has committed to supplying advertising inventory through its available channels to help raise awareness about UNICEF’s outreach efforts. The free publicity will be a major boost to the organization’s aim to develop online social media communities and attract more followers to the cause.

UNICEF’s regional office for Middle East and North Africa has been using Twitter and Facebook to engage youth across the world to form conversations about children’s and adolescents’ rights. Subjects being tackled include child health and nutrition, clean water and sanitation, education and protection from violence, exploitation and AIDS. Ikoo’s influence as the region’s leading advertising network will help spread vital messages and encourage more people to take part in UNICEF’S crucial aid programmes.

“By helping to empower young people with sufficient knowledge of the issues affecting child rights, Ikoo will play a valuable role in global efforts to tackle them and improve the lives of children in the region and beyond. We are grateful to Ikoo,” said Abdel-Rahman Ghandour, Regional Chief of Communication of UNICEF.

“Social media is booming in the Arab world and it’s becoming an integral part of any communication strategy for any organization, we at Ikoo are excited about helping the UNICEF driving awareness to their global aid efforts through promoting their social media tools like twitter account and Facebook page,” said Hussam Khoury, Director of Sales at Ikoo.

“There are millions of children out there who need our help. And there are also plenty of people who would be willing to participate in global aid efforts if they were simply made aware of the issues and given the necessary advice on how to lend their support,” he added.
