“What more topical theme could there possibly be?” asks IMCA’s Chief Executive, Hugh Williams. “These have been challenging times for all sectors of the industry both in terms of the global economy, and the impact of events of 22 April 2010 in the Gulf of Mexico, that will shape our industry in the years to come, and ‘value’ in both financial and quality terms heads the list of expectations throughout the offshore supply chain.
“Our plenary session speakers – Easa S Al Sarkal, the offshore logistics specialist from Zakum Development Company (ZADCO), Stewart Fraser, Health, Safety and Security Manager, OGP (International Association of Oil and Gas Producers), Neil Milne of IMCA’s Remote Systems & ROV Division Management Committee, Fazel Fazelbhoy of Topaz Marine and Lance Birdsall and Tanya Vernon of Veoliaon Day 1; and John Payne of Hallin Marine, Anders Arve Wagage of DOF ASA and Vibor Paravic of Saipem – Sonsub Division on Day 2 – will all be using the ‘Delivering Value in Marine Operations’ theme for their addresses which cover issues of vital importance to all working offshore.
“The theme will then be taken up within our marine, diving, ROV and offshore survey parallel sessions and in the diverse workshops taking place over the two days that help determine IMCA’s work programme. Cost effective, safe working practices are all-important throughout the industry – every pound or dollar really counts, and this seminar will point the way to ever greater success.
“We look forward to welcoming engineers, managers and offshore personnel from contractors, clients, consultants, equipment manufacturers, regulators and elsewhere from the global industry, and to a great deal of constructive debate both during the formal sessions, and during the more relaxed networking sessions. With a Welcome Reception on 22 November, a Seminar Dinner and a Beach Barbeque as well as networking opportunities throughout both days at the lunch and other refreshment breaks, there are plenty of prospects for renewing old acquaintances and making new ones.
”Since the Annual Seminar was last held in the UAE in 2005, there has been phenomenal growth of IMCA worldwide, and of its Middle East & India Section – the seminar’s host,” he adds. “The association has well in excess of 700 members worldwide (there were just 295 at seminar time in 2005), and the Section has more than doubled in size in the five years, from 58 to 120 member companies.”
The lunch, tea and coffee breaks also provide an opportunity to visit the associated exhibition spotlighting the services and products of some of IMCA’s supplier members. Preview information has been supplied by some of the 21 exhibitors:
