iCT Health Launched to establish region’s first Integrated Health Information Exchange Network

United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, January 27 - 2009 @ 09:19

iCT HEALTH will be the region’s first integrated Health Information Exchange and will provide innovative technology solutions to the region’s healthcare sector. Through the delivery of information and connectivity solutions, iCT HEALTH aims to enhance operational efficiencies and improved information sharing.

“iCT HEALTH has been established with the aim of driving exponential growth in the healthcare market in the UAE. We want to position the company as a special purpose vehicle that addresses the needs of the healthcare industry through the delivery and application of ICT based services. Our solution, in addition to being efficient, will bring about transparency and reduced costs while enhancing internal processes across companies operating in this sector.”

said Gautam Dey, Chief Operating Officer, Imtac Technologies.

Dey adde: “We have chosen to establish iCT HEALTH in Dubai Healthcare City because it is the region’s hub for world-class quality healthcare services and to further our commitment to the UAE healthcare sector.”

A Datamonitor September 2008 report states that while most global enterprises are cutting back increases in IT expenditures, the healthcare sectors remains a clear exception with a significant number of increases expected in its IT spending in 2009. One key factor is that the healthcare industry is under constant pressure from various stakeholders including government and patients to reduce administrative and medical costs while improving patient care and technology is seen as crucial aspect to achieve this objective.

Keeping in mind changing market conditions, iCT HEALTH also plans to launch a series of integrated solution offerings based on the software-as-a-service (SAAS) framework along with transaction fee-based pricing models. This is expected to gain acceptance amongst customers who are looking for better investment protection and non-capital intensive business models.

Electronic insurance claims processing will be another important business need. With over 2.5 billion USD of healthcare claims estimated to be processed annually in Dubai alone, iCT HEALTH will play a key role in implementing the new service to support the region’s healthcare sector. The service will be made available to healthcare providers for a nominal fee per patient. The application will also serve as a key source of information for the government and the healthcare sector to collect data anonymously on common illnesses, diseases and health trends prevalent in the UAE.

iCT Health’s technology offerings emerge from SEI CMM Level 5 development centres in India and are benchmarked to comply with a host of healthcare standards and quality measures. The integrated healthcare information exchange and network will be developed in partnership with industry leaders like Oracle and HP and uses proven switching technologies. With over 24 years of experience and partnership, this launch bodes well for all stakeholders in the healthcare value chain.

The strategic partnerships spanning two decades, with global majors such as Oracle, Hewlett Packard, Philips, Cardinal Health, Stryker, Hitachi, Gambro etc., have helped Imtac imbibe the best practices applicable to the healthcare sector.
