Chaired by Robert Swade, chief legal officer, Jumeirah Group, the one-day conference – with more than 20 speakers – is aimed at the growing in-house legal community in the Gulf.
Keynote speakers at the event include Dr Fabio Scacciavillani, director, macroeconomics & statistics, Dubai International Financial Centre and Pavel Klimov, general counsel, UK EMEA, Unisys. A wide range of topics are to be covered in a panel discussion and series of interactive focus groups, including the fallout from the global economic crisis on Middle East business, the role of general counsel in an economic downturn (from a leading CEO’s perspective), also dispute resolution, in-house team management and selecting, working with and reducing costs of external counsel.
“I am delighted to be chairing this pre-eminent annual conference for the Gulf’s leading in-house counsel,” said Robert Swade, chief legal officer, Jumeirah Group.
“This year’s programme assesses the impact of the current financial climate on the work of general counsel and examines how in-house teams can effectively mitigate risk and maximise return on investment,” he added.
The Corporate Counsel Forum Middle East, established last year, was the first foray in the Gulf for UK-based Legal Week, a division of Incisive Media and winner of the PPA Business Magazine of the Year in 2008.
