As Gemalto took the strategic decision to re-position in the phone card market and has decided to focus on the supply of memory modules, it selected Inkript to supply the finished public telephony cards to its customer base.
Inkript selection as Gemalto’s preferred partner comes as no surprise as both companies have an established long term partnership built over many years in the public telephony business among others.
Moreover, Inkript has acquired a solid reputation and expertise in the public telephony cards business by providing such cards to major telecom providers like Maroc Telecom since 2006.
As per the agreement, Inkript will be directly serving Gemalto’s customers, starting from the first quarter of 2013, by providing them with public telephony cards using Gemalto’s modules technology.
In an earlier phase of the agreement, Gemalto had sub-contracted the production of the cards to Inkript for a period of six months during 2012; during this period, extensive studies and analysis were undertaken and required procedures were established to ensure a seamless transfer.
“We are pleased to take our partnership with Gemalto to the next level and directly serve their customers. As Gemalto is re-positioning its public telephony business, the agreement represents a natural step for both Inkript and Gemalto as our company is a well-established player in the smart card industry and our partnership with Gemalto has always been a successful one. We thank Gemalto for the trust they have put in us and we endeavor to serve their customers with the same quality standards they are used to.”
The agreement covers Gemalto’s customer base for the Europe, Middle East and Africa region (EMEA) and comes to reinforce the international positioning of Inkript in the smart card industry.
