Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Ma’aden) has signed a strategic partnership with the INSEAD Business School to develop and deliver Leadership Development Programs for the company’s employees, in support of the company’s vision to lead the development of mining as a fundamental pillar of Saudi industry.

The Ma’aden Leadership Development Program seeks to advance knowledge, skills and behaviors under the principles of the ‘Ma’aden Way’ which encourages leaders to ‘Shape the Future, Drive Execution, and Develop Exceptional People and Partnerships’.

It will facilitate the acquisition of skills, knowledge and capabilities required to support a culture of continual improvement within Ma`aden. The program is part of the company’s ongoing initiatives to invest in developing its current and future leaders for its diversified and growing business sectors. This program will be offered under the umbrella of the Ma’aden Academy which was established as the epicenter for talent development across Ma’aden.

Ma’aden established its leadership Academy in February 2013 as part of its strategic transformation program ‘Etgan’ with the objective of building the company’s capabilities and achieving its strategic goal of becoming a world-class mining enterprise. The role of the Academy is to provide management and leadership training for employees to strengthen their current and future capabilities which will improve the overall company capabilities. In addition, the Academy provides technical and specialized management training.

Khalid Al-Mudaifer, Ma’aden President & CEO, addressing the first group of Ma’aden future leaders to the INSEAD-partnered program said “Ma’aden will continue to invest in the development of its national talent to make sure we have the kind of leaders who will be able steer the company’s progress towards boosting our production capacities and diversifying our mining and industrial portfolio so that we may fulfill our shareholders’ aspirations and become a truly world-class mining enterprise.

Commenting on the strategic partnership with Ma’aden, Michael Pich, Dean of Executive Education at INSEAD, reiterated the business school’s commitment to providing carefully crafted programmes that equip leaders with knowledge and skills for an increasingly dynamic business world.

“INSEAD is working with Ma’aden leadership to address the company’s immediate development needs. This program will help bring global leadership best practices to Ma’aden management and is in line with the school’s aim to improve executive capability in the Middle East,” said Dean Pich.

INSEAD was established in 1975 and is considered one of the world’s leading business schools, providing a variety of post-graduate programs, including a PhD in Management, MBA, Executive MBA and other executive leadership programs.
