As part of its commitment to supporting entrepreneurship in Jordan and coinciding with its Corporate Social Responsibilities which revolves around supporting emerging companies in various economic sectors, Umniah has sponsored an event for investments in the telecommunications sector. The event, titled DealMakers Weekend.
Working alongside the Information and Communications Technology Association of Jordan (int@j) and Endeavor Jordan, Umniah powered the event with its premium internet services.
Umniah’s sponsorship of DealMakers Weekend comes as part of its efforts to support entrepreneurship in Jordan as well as help emerging companies become well established, particularly those specialized in the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector. Over the years, Umniah has made significant contributions to support the society both individually and through its partnerships with other companies.
The CEO of Umniah, Ihab Hinnawi, commented on the occasion saying, “Umniah has entered the local market not only primarily to offer premium telecommunications services to Jordan’s citizens but also to take significant steps towards improving the country’s economy, employability as well as adding value to the country’s ICT sector. Today, Umniah has become one of the greatest supporters of initiatives aimed at supporting startups and entrepreneurism.”
DealMakers Weekend was held for the second time in the kingdom and saw the participation of big companies including leading local, regional and global investors. The initiative aims at making an exclusive platform that is held yearly to help connect investors to entrepreneurs in order to exchange expertise and experiences. The eventwas organized with support from Jordan’s competitiveness program funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the King Abdullah II Fund for Development as well as Umniah. The event also received cooperation from regional and global partners including AllWorldNetwork, Arabreneur, UK Trade Investment, MITEnterprise Forum, Plug and Play, Eureeca.com and Silicon Badia. Several startups across the region including ones based in Jordan, UAE, Egypt, Palestine, Lebanon, Syria and Saudi Arabia attended the event with a wide range of investments made in Jordan as well as the MENA region’s ICT sector.
The second event was carried out under the theme DealMakers Weekend that seekto create a comfortable atmosphere for entrepreneurs and investors to connect, as well as encourage regional investments in startups by focusing on entrepreneurism. The move further comes in response to the recent growth witnessed in the ICT sector and aims to help investors and entrepreneurs make regional and global contacts as well as realize their long-term goals.
