International Expo Consults (IEC) has announced that 2014 would be a turnaround year in the amusement and entertainment sector as DEAL 2014 would take the industry by storm. The three day event started at ‘The Arena’, Dubai World Trade Centre saw large eager crowds in big numbers flocking to various booths at the exhibition.
Apart from highlighting several contemporary products, DEAL 2014 is projecting 5D and 7D cinemas, video games, rides for kids, latest family entertainment centre equipments and other ingenious offerings at the exhibition.
DEAL show also served as a platform to formulate MENALAC (Middle East and North Africa Leisure and Attractions Council). Once formalised the council will aim to drive the industry forward. The primary objective of the association is to ensure uniform safety standards across the Middle East region. This council of industry operators will also aim to educate the industry with regard to the latest technology and innovation. The key objective is to promote safe operations, regional development, professional growth and commercial success of the amusement industry. The council will also aim to serve as a credible resource for industry data and statistics.

Over the period of years we have seen the industry grow and we have noticed that the Middle East has high acknowledgement for this industry. Every year we noticed that each edition is diverse from its previous edition. Gone are the days when viewers enjoyed 3D cinemas which have now been taken over by 7D cinemas to give viewers the ultimate experience of cinematic viewing. The DEAL show grew by 19 percent last year over the previous years as exhibitors signed contracts worth several million dollars at the event last year. These contracts were for innovative products and projects, amusement rides and other equipments that were being rolled out during the course of the year. The show this year has ushered in close to 300 firms across 33 countries and has enticed over 7000 quality trade visitors. DEAL is Middle East’s gateway for all the participants and associates within the amusement and entertainment industry which can boost their growth and give them a smooth transition into the region’s market.
The DEAL 2014 show has already attracted exhibitors from countries diverse as Belgium, Canada, China, Hong Kong, Germany, Netherlands, Italy, UK, France, Turkey, and USA, apart from new countries which include Denmark, Singapore and Qatar. The global market for theme parks across the world is predicted to peak $31.8bn by the year 2017 as per the research by US based Global Industry Analysts Inc. (GIA). The reports which states that the growth will be propelled by increased consumer per capita spending on amusement and entertainment platforms, and growing base of middle class households, increasing disposable incomes, urbanization in developing countries, and increasing fame for mass entertainment.
