As a new accomplishment to be added to International Modern Hospital’s journey towards providing ultimate medical services in the region, the hospital announced the success of the first Intralise Enabled Keratoplasty (IEK) in the Middle East Region.
Intralise-Enabled Keratoplasty (IEK) resembles a turning point in the field of ophthalmology in terms of replacing the old practice of using the manual trephine corneal cutter symbolizing the greatest technological breakthrough in over 50 years.
The technology uses an “inside- out” process which depends on IntraLase Femtosecond Laser’s infrared light beam in generating 60,000 pulses per sound focused on a point within the cornea.
In addition to being blade-free procedure, using IntraLase Femtosecond Laser has various unique advantages that couldn’t be achieved by other technologies such as having fewer sutures, less induced astigmatism, fast patient healing, quick visual recovery, and stable graft with precisely shaped incisions which enables the tissue to fit together much like a puzzle.
“We are proud to be pioneers in using the latest technologies & being the first in the Middle East Region in the field of Keratoplasty using the Intralise technology is an accomplishment for us & the United Arab Emirates which always aims at being the most favorite medical destination in the Region”, Said Dr. Riyadh the Jord, Ophthalmologist & the Managing Director of the International Modern Hospital.
Ophthalmology Center at International Modern Hospital has well qualified team of ophthalmologists using state-of-art technologies such as lasik, Intralisik, & super lasik along with being tied up with international centers in Barcelona & Moscow.
