Nabil BouKhaled ISOC Lebanon Chapter President and .LB domain administrator since 1993 – inaugurated the event with an opening speech where he introduced the newly formed ISOC Lebanon chapter and highlighted the centric and critical role that the Internet community in Lebanon should play to develop a flourishing Internet ecosystem. A series of speeches were also delivered stressing the importance of the Internet industry and urging key stakeholders to play an active role in defining the future of the Internet in the country as it has direct impact on local businesses, education ,social lives and the economy of the country in addition to the intervention by Telecom Minister Nahas,.
Following the opening session a series of presentations kicked off by leading Internet experts focusing on three main topics:
- Doing Business in the Social Networking Era
- Content Delivery Networks (CDN)
- Child Safety on the Internet
In parallel Randy Bush, Research Fellow and Network Operator at Internet Initiative Japan, the first commercial Internet Service Provider in Japan delivered Lebanon’s first technical training session on routing security. Bush shared with the audience a wealth of over 20 years of experience in the transfer of Internet technologies to developing economies.
