Health Insights selects InterSystems CACHE database for its MedicaPlus Hospital and Clinical Information System

United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, December 14 - 2010 @ 15:47

Health Insights’ MedicaPlus is one of the first comprehensive Hospital Information Management System applications to be developed in the Middle East, and its world-class functionality has secured an extensive and prestigious customer base in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the U.A.E. and the U.S. However, Health Insights was reviewing the market for object based database platform that can bring further performance and scalability to its users at the point-of-care.

Health Insights’ decision to partner with InterSystems follows the successful port of MedicaPlus to run on CACHE and a series of rigorous tests using industry-standard SQL database queries. By using CACHE, Health Insights has significantly boosted the scalability and performance of its applications, which means that it can lower costs for its customers and reseller partners through reduced hardware and database administration requirements.

“CACHE will enable us to provide unmatched performance and scalability to meet the needs of even the largest of hospitals,” said Nasser Shehata, Chief Executive Officer of Health Insights.

The partnership agreement, signed at the recent 2010 HIMSS Middle East Health IT Leadership Summit & Conference in Dubai, complements Health Insights’ local experience and expertise with InterSystems 24 x 7 World Wide Response Center to provide a highly reliable and responsive support service.

This is a strategic opportunity for InterSystems as it will more than double the installed base of healthcare information solutions based on InterSystems’ advanced software technologies in the Middle East. In turn, Health Insights will benefit from InterSystems’ extensive global presence and partner network in pursuing its own international expansion plans.

“InterSystems is delighted to partner with Health Insights to make its leading healthcare information solutions even more powerful and improve standards of healthcare both in the Middle East and around the world,” said Stan Capp, InterSystems’ Regional Director for Asia Pacific & the Middle East.
