IslamicFinder is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving Islam through the Internet by providing information on religious matters, mosques, Islamic organizations, Islamic centers and Muslim-owned businesses besides containing an international Islamic web sites directory.
“The Internet provides the ideal and convenient platform for spreading the message of Islam to the entire world, something that was impossible some years ago,” said Dr. Tawfiq Al Rabiah, general supervisor, Islamic Finder. “IslamicFinder is committed to leverage the strengths of the World Wide Web to enable Muslims around the globe to fulfill their religious duties through technological solutions, including special software designed to enhance their religious experience.”
The portal has expanded the list of places for which prayer timings are available online. The portal now provides prayer timings in more than 5,200,000 cities and towns across the globe at the click of a mouse. In addition, online users can obtain accurate information on their Qiblah direction, distance from Kaaba (Makkah), longitude, latitude and weather. It also allows online users to receive prayer timings on a monthly basis via email.
“We have also launched a free ‘azan’ software that can be downloaded from the portal, to allow the user to hear the ‘azan’ on the computer five times a day,” said Dr. Al Rabiah. “This facility will be beneficial to several employed people who may be too caught up in their work to remember the prayer time. Our portal offers options to choose the ‘azan’ from the Madina, Makkah, or Al Aqsa mosques. We are positive that using technology to hear the ‘azan’ directly over the PC will enhance the devout lives of many of our online users.”
IslamicFinder has recently added an online web directory covering all essential and detailed information on Islam, including the Holy Quran, Hadith, Fiqh and Fatawa, Education, Muslim Family, Islamic history and biography, health and Islamic medicine, economy & commerce, art & culture and news & media. In addition, the portal provides articles on various aspects of Islam.
The Hijri calendar and Gregorian-Hijri date conversion is another useful service offered by IslamicFinder to Muslims through the Internet.
“Our goal is to make IslamicFinder the ultimate resource on Islamic matters. We are constantly endeavoring to make the portal more meaningful to the Muslim community worldwide, thus making them more aware of their religion and helping them improve their religious life through online resources,” said Dr. Al Rabiah. “As a non-profit organization, we are driven by the desire to serve Islam through the use of leading edge solutions. We are confident millions of people around the globe will find our portal an extremely helpful guide for enhancing their religious life.”
