The Politecnico Di Milano School of Management (MIP) Executive MBA delegation is currently visiting the United Arab Emirates leaded by Raffaello Balocco, Ph.D. Department of Management, Economics and Industrial Engineering and Ilaria Fava, Ph.D., International Relations Manager and Angela Montagano, Executive MBA Programmes Coordination Responsible accompanying a number of executive MBA students originating by different sectors of business enterprises in Italy.
The seminar was held by two high profile speakers i.e.: Ottavia Molinari as President of the IBC Dubai and founding owner of Molinari Legal Consultancy in Dubai and Dario Barisoni, President of the IBC Abu Dhabi and himself MBA of MIP.
Ottavia Molinari provided the foundations to start a business activity in the UAE by explaining the different legal entities models offered in the territories main land and free zones and shared valuable information gained in 20 years of professional experience practicing as business lawyer in the United Arab Emirates providing samples of successful Italian examples of businesses grown in the Country.
Ottavia Molinari said, “The United Arab Emirates are now registering a rapid non-oil trade expansion as the domestic demand resurge, an increase of volume of passengers arrivals and visitors tourists and a sensible increase of residents that are helping in a quick recovery from the recession levels and rebuilding a general confidence. The actual low market rates for the rental of office spaces and warehousing as well as reasonable licensing costs make the UAE a very competitive country offering the perfect hub for any company desirous of establishing itself in the region taking advantage of the great built infrastructure. Moreover, the high level of security and protection offered is one of the reasons why families of over 120 different nationalities decided to reside in the Emirates.”
Dario Barisoni provided an overview of the economic environment in the U.A.E. and investment opportunities in the Middle East region, with a special focus on the future high growth sectors and on the areas of major interest for Italian enterprises looking to U.A.E. as their business destination. Dario Barisoni explained, “Italian industries have an extraordinary potential in the ME region. The large base of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), which represents one of the most distinguished element of the Italian economy, is representative of high technology standards and technology innovation. In Italy we cover niche markets, and there we compete on global scale and for the mass markets we have international champions well representing the made in Italy brand and doing business practice. The U.A.E. is implementing an ambitious plan to develop Small and Medium Enterprises, a diversified economy and a knowledge-based society. If there is no doubt that the plan will succeed, an important boost to its implementation may come from foreign direct investments: the Italian Enterprises here may play a great role for the quality of the Companies represented and the global recognition they receive for their quality and standards. The capacity to operate in different environments, their flexibility and pragmatic approach to the business, create a perfect match with the economic diversification plan of the U.A.E government and make Italian companies a good partner to local entrepreneurs and business operators.”
Today the Italian Business Council Dubai & Northern Emirates (IBCD) is one of the 35 business councils established in Dubai by the Dubai Chamber under the decree of HH the Ruler of Dubai. It was established in 2003 and is a non-profit voluntary association among Italian, UAE and international businessmen and/or professionals with legal presence operating in the territory particularly committed to creating and promoting a platform of network opportunities for our members to exchange ideas, experiences and information both among themselves and with leaders from many sectors. The opportunities generated by our activities have the scope to better understand and gain knowledge about the way to conduct business in the UAE and to promote market access opportunities in both directions.
