“Interior Design in the Middle East is developing at a rapid pace with some talented new designers emerging in the region,” says Robert Pearce, Managing Director of Jacuzzi Middle East. “The aim of these awards is to encourage and develop new talent coming from the local universities and to motivate everyone in the industry to recognize their value and skills as designers.”
The competition is open to all final year interior design and architecture students at universities in the Middle East. The challenge is to design a bathroom measuring 2.5 metres by 2.5 metres using at least one product from the Jacuzzi range. All other design elements, materials and finishes can be chosen by the student.
Kenneth Laidler, President of APID, says, “The students will have to provide a detailed floor plan, montage finishes board and illustration of their bathroom. They will also have to provide a written description outlining the vision behind the project, design themes and their reasons for choice of materials and finishes. We believe that this is a good test for the students to consider a real world situation with all the practicalities that go along with such a challenge.”
The closing date for entries to the competition is 15th November 2006 and the winner will be announced during the Dubai Ideal Home Show on 2nd December.
