Mr. Ammar Sabeeh Khayyat, CMA, CPA, and president of JAMA signed the agreement with Mr. Jim Gurowka on behalf of IMA. The Ceremony kick started with a welcoming speech by Mr. Khayyat followed by a presentation about the association’s visions, goals and mission, announcing JAMA as a non profit organization and how it came as a result of a merging two creative ideas into one promising vision: creating an IMA chapter in Jordan, and implementing programs meant to upgrade the Jordanian accountants’ level to new realms of excellence.
In his speech, Mr. Khayyat said: The need for a specialized reference that can hold and embrace Jordanian accountants under one umbrella to provide them with all support, and assistance they may require for their careers, and to upgrade their qualifications and skills to higher international standards. Such urgent need called on us to form this professional society which will be the resource of knowledge and the guide to proficiency.
On his part, Mr. Steven Weiss, IMA VP for Membership and Global Development, expressed his enthusiasm towards the constructive affiliation which shall positively impact all concerned parties in the short and long run. He also highlighted the role of IMA and the goals it expects from such initiatives and strategic partnerships; these goals are represented in promoting the management accountancy and the accountants’ efficiency to make them “trusted business advisors”, enabling them to play a driving role in their organizations business success, and advancing their careers. In this context, Mr. Weiss pointed out the importance of becoming a Certified Management Accountant CMA.
Mr. Ammar Khayyat further touched upon the Association’s mission in order to build a professional society in Jordan that would support accountants and finance managers by focusing on the ingredients of becoming successful finance leaders, such as acquiring the necessary technical knowledge, developing capabilities, building up on soft skills, keeping up-to-date with information, and retaining professional relationships.
He also shared with the audience JAMA’s strategy in achieving its objectives which is based on four main pillars; education and career development, networking, providing support to members and playing an active role in supporting the professional community.
Concluding the event, Mr. Khayyat mentioned that associating with IMA will give the local accounting community the opportunity to be up-to-date with the latest innovations and knowledge worldwide and the support in the application of different management accounting operations.
He also expressed his gratitude to the attendees and the sponsors of the event (IMA & Morgan International), as well as JAMA’s sponsors (Hikma Pharmaceuticals Group, Cairo Amman Bank, Jabbar Internet Group, Orange Jordan, Zain, and Aroma Co.).
It is worth noting that JAMA was established end of last year, and its Board of Directors consists of Ammar Khayyat, Raslan Deiranieh, Shafiq Batshon, Khalid Nabilsi, Nizar Mohammed, Jamal Abdel Jalil, and Faisal Qamhiyah.
