The one day conference aims at tackling the various issues and challenges that are of interest to experts in the field to develop systems and processes, and ultimately upgrade participants’ professionalism in account management.
Among the speakers were Ambassador Karim Kawar, Ms. Majd Shweikeh, Mr. Haitham Qamheiyeh, Mr. Jeffrey Thomson, Mr. Mohammad Al-Karaki and Mr. Samer Taha.
Welcoming the guests and participants Mr. Ammar Khayyat, President of JAMA, spoke of the association’s achievements over the past year and its future goals. He also thanked the supporting organizations which sponsored the event, including Ernst and Young, Zain Jordan and the Arab Potash Company.
Mr. Khayyat said, “We launched JAMA in 2010 and during this time we received immense support and trust from the members and supporters, as we have provided a number of training opportunities and activities for the members. And here we are, at the first annual JAMA conference with steady strides stepping into the future, focusing our efforts on educational activities and creating an experience sharing hub from all financial sectors, and continue offering our members with benefits.”
He also added, “Accounting is one the most important and well respected professions in the developed world, and we certainly need to bring to that level here in Jordan.”
He finally thanked Mr. Jeff Thomson President and CEO of IMA, one of JAMA’s greatest supporters and strategic partners in sharing experiences to overcome the challenging times the region is going through.
JAMA is a non for profit organization, and an amalgamation of two creative concepts : delivering programs and to raise and upgrade the standards of accountants in Jordan on the one hand, and establishing a strategic partnership with the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA)in Jordan on the other.
