Middle East consultancy firm moves into corporate finance and expands management team

United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, February 05 - 2003 @ 14:06

Based in London, Jasper Capital was established in 2001 to facilitate the two-way flow of finance and financial expertise between the UK and emerging markets, in particular the Middle East, North Africa, Turkey and Central Asia.

Jasper Capital offers specialist consulting and advisory services to corporate, financial institution and government clients across global emerging markets. These services are delivered through in-house resources and by sourcing expertise from the international market place.

In the UK, Jasper Capital focuses on the small and medium sized enterprise market, where high demand has been identified for an integrated package of consultancy and corporate finance services. In addition to raising debt and equity funding, Jasper Capital provides ongoing consultancy and advisory services to its clients, which such companies often lack from traditional consulting and advisory firms and venture capitalists.

Jasper Capital’s principals comprise three highly experienced international bankers and management consultants. Jason Peers, Chief Executive, has more than 20 years’ experience in emerging markets and was formerly Managing Director for the Middle East, North Africa, Turkey and Central Asia of the Investment Banking division of Barclays Capital.

Martin Willetts, Head of Corporate Finance, was formerly Head of Investment Banking, Middle East at Flemings and Head of Investment Banking, London at Gulf International Bank. Richard Sidery, Head of Consulting, was formerly a senior management consultancy partner at PriceWaterhouseCoopers.

Jason Peers comments, “Jasper Capital fills a widening gap in the UK’s investment community. There is a wealth of opportunity for firms like Jasper Capital to provide highly relevant consulting and financial advice to SMEs and to facilitate investment into high growth opportunities. Through our relationships and contacts in emerging markets, particularly the Middle East, we are able to introduce investors to UK SMEs and so provide an invaluable source of new capital beyond the traditional venture capital route.”
