Networking initiative for Dubai’s medical community launched

United Arab Emirates: Thursday, June 29 - 2006 @ 12:44

The program, called the Matrix Medical Community Initiative (MCI), was introduced by Jebel Ali Hospital, and will seek to impart continuous learning and foster an open dialogue on key issues by doctors within the UAE region.

Matrix MCI has already been hailed by Dubai’s healthcare practitioners as a novel concept and consists of three initiatives – Continuing Medical Education (CME), Community Doctor Network (CDN), and Networking Events (NE). Exclusively for the UAE-based doctors, Matrix Community Doctor Network (CDN) brings together doctors who are among the best in their medical specialty.

Describing the development as an important tool that will help doctors to interact with their peers on a more personal level, Advet Bhambhani, Chief Executive Officer of Jebel Ali Hospital, said:

“Matrix MCI is primarily targeted at healthcare professionals with the aim of encouraging an open dialogue with the medical community to address common issues which will eventually result in provision of better medical services to patients.”

In the months to come, Matrix CME will aim to serve as a reliable platform in which highly reputed doctors are invited to share their insights and challenges on a specific topic. Initially, these seminars and events will be conducted in the UAE every four months but will be held more frequently in future.

Bhambhani pointed out that in order to practice cutting-edge medicine and ensure the loyalty of patients, doctors need to constantly improve their skills so as to offer their patients improved safety, shorter treatment-time, faster recovery-time and lower the risk of possible complications.

In addition, doctors who form a part of the Matrix CDN, have visiting and surgical privileges that give them a priority over other doctors in using Jebel Ali Hospital’s operation theatre facilities, admission of their patients to the hospital and the opportunity to set up a regular outpatient clinic at the hospital.

“Our CDN program permits participating doctors to utilise world-class medical facilities of Jebel Ali Hospital to treat their own patients,” Bhambhani explained. “It will also give them the benefit of providing their patients with a luxurious, boutique hospital environment and offer their patients the highest level of comprehensive and personalised services.”

Outpatient clinics are general clinics for various medical and surgical specialties for consultation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients without overnight stay. “Through the CDN, external doctors can make an agreement with the hospital to regularly schedule outpatient clinics at the hospital. These can be planned by doctors either daily, weekly or monthly to offer consultation and treatment to their patients,” he added.

By organising social and informal events, Matrix Networking Events will provide an excellent opportunity for doctors, nurses and other allied healthcare professionals to come together and get to know each other on a more personal level.

Up and running for the past nine months, Jebel Ali Hospital provides a comprehensive range of general medical services in a comforting, boutique hospital environment. The 20-bed hospital has a relaxing ambience characterised by its striking reception area, elegant artwork, and tastefully finished rooms.
