Japan External Trade Organization sets up Japan’s first national pavilion at Arab Health 2011

This will be Japan’s first time to set up a national pavilion for this event.

Over 2,700 exhibitors from 60 countries, specialized in Medical Technology, Laboratory Equipment, Diagnostics, Physiotherapy / Orthopedic Technology, Commodities and Consumer Goods for Hospitals, Surgical Products and Services, Information and Communication Technology in Healthcare, Medical Disposables, Healthcare Building Technology, Radiology, etc. are slated to be present at the exhibition to showcase their products and services.

As JETRO is dedicated to supporting small and medium Japanese Enterprises, 11 of these companies specializing in medical device manufacturing will participate in the Japan Pavilion. Realizing the high potential growth of the medical and healthcare market in the Middle East and Africa will showcase a unique variety of high-tech and innovative products, aiming to expand their business in the region. JETRO has so far arranged nearly 150 one on one business meetings for them during the period of the exhibition.

Within the 11 companies, Keisei Medical Industrial Co., Ltd. will introduce their Air Fluidized Therapy Bed, a specialized bed for severely skin burned and bed ridden patients. CE and FDA approved, their product is adopted in many emergency hospitals all over the world.

Doctor Japan Co., Ltd. is a renowned manufacturer of high-precision medical needles. Incorporating Japan’s advanced technology for precision work, their epidural, biopsy, and anesthesia needles, CE and FDA approved, are continually used by medical practitioners around the world.

Mr. Hiroki Matsumoto, Managing Director of JETRO Dubai & Mena, who planned this Medical Mission project, expressed his wishes, “We expect to strengthen and to diversify trade relationship between Japan and this region riding on the wave of trade and economy recover between Japan and this region rapidly. Export from Japan to the Middle East, in the period of January through October, 2010, was increased by 25% ($23bn).”

Ms. Mitsuko Uchida, Director of International Sales Department of Dr. Japan Co., Ltd., says, “The main purpose of our company participating in Arab Health is to build a gateway to Middle East and African markets. I think the economy in both regions will continue to grow significantly with its background in abundant natural resources, geographical strength, and tourism industry. The growth of the medical market was indeed obvious to us through statistical data but we never had the chance to break into the market. On this occasion, being able to actually present our products, we will like to show Dr. Japan’s technologies and also reveal the fundamental strength of Japanese manufacturing.”

In addition, other unique medical and healthcare related products, such as CPAP devices for treating Sleep Apnea Syndrome (SAS), Electrotherapy / Ultrasound Units used by Olympic athletes, and high quality LED operation lamps will be on display. JETRO invites all medical officials to come experience the “Made in Japan” quality.
